Candle Safety-Taper Candle Recall Yankee Candle

With the holiday season approaching fast, you should look at your candle inventory to make sure that you do not have any candles that have been affected by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s recalls.

Most of us love taper candles during our holiday meals and some of you may actually have some from the 2010 shopping season.

 Note:

On November 23rd, 2010, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission in cooperation with General Wax & Candle Company, of North Hollywood, California, voluntarily recalled 33,000 10 inch metallic silver and gold taper candles.  UPC code 609032492687 or 609032492694.  These candles were sold exclusively through Yankee Candle Company stores nationwide.

The purpose of this recall is due to the metallic paint on the candles can ignite.

For more information on this recall please visit The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commissions web site.

Burning candles properly is a must for any homes safety.

Friday Night Romance – Tony’s Restaurant Cincinnati Ohio

Those of you that follow the blog know that I am passionate about candle light and family.  Bringing family back to the table and creating a magical atmosphere is a moment that lasts a life time.

I asked a customer what their favorite restaurant was and why.  They actually answered with three favorites.  So I decided to do some checking and see what would fit into my passions of family and magic.  By doing so, it sparked an interest, one with curiosity.  It also sparked a name to be placed on the bucket list of people I would like to personally meet.

Personally, I love family friendly restaurants and if they have candle light on the table, well, that is just a bigger plus.  It is not just that however that sparks an interest.  It is the customer service, the food, and hey, does the owner actually mix with the customers?

Tony Ricci just got put on the list of people I would like to meet because:

  • His restaurant Tony’s appears to be a family friendly place to eat
  • He proudly displays candle light on his dinner tables
  • His is motivated by family values
  • His menu’s and food look delicious

You can believe the next time I am in Ohio, I will make time to visit Tony’s Restaurant in hopes of possibly meeting Tony Ricci.  To view more about Tony’s Restaurant, Cincinnati, Ohio, visit this great interview from Loveland Magazine.

Creating Memories With Natural Wax Candles

I have a dream.  Anyone who has seen Mama Mia should remember one of the last songs to both the movie and the Broadway production.  Nonetheless, I have a dream takes on a whole new meaning with families that find themselves within the STICU Waiting Room at BAMC.  Whether they are in the STICU or the Burn Center Waiting Room, they have a dream.  It is the dream that their loved one will survive just one more day.

Simple Ways To Help BAMC STICU Families

Families at the BAMC waiting rooms arrive on a split notice.  They do not have time to logically think of what they may need while there.  Here are some simple things you can do to help make their stay just a little bit easier.

  1. Bottle water
  2. books
  3. magazines
  4. Snacks
  5. Pen and paper
  6. Travel pillow
  7. Small Blanket

Eventually, once a loved one within the STICU or Burn Unit moves onto the next level of care, families feel more comfortable to spend the night at a hotel nearby.  A special care package helps to ease the extreme financial burden that is in place while a loved one is at BAMC.

Care Package

A care package with the following items not only helps families know that they are being thought of, but it also helps with the little things that make stress go away.

  • Tooth brush
  • Tooth paste
  • Wash cloth
  • Lavender scented candle - lavender is said to help aide in relaxing.  If there is anything a BAMC STICU family needs is to relax.

What are some suggestions you have to help aide families that are in a Level 1 Trauma Unit?

  • Holders – floating candle holders help to give off a magical glow to your candles.  Gather the same amount of holders for each tea light.
