Since today is my wedding anniversary, I thought I would share how I incorporated simple votive candles, small bubble wands, and flowers into our reception. To help save costs, we reserved the whole back dining room to a favorite restaurant of ours, Steak and Ale, I-40 and Meridian, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. With the restaurant having separate dining rooms, and an affordable menu, it gave our guests the opportunity to have anything they wanted to eat and we had privacy for our wedding reception. Our guests were also able to go to the bar if they so chose to do so.
This was great for the restaurant because it was reserved during an otherwise off business time for them.
I used a two top table to place the cake on. I decorated the table with simple flowers and a couple of votive candles. Since the cake was the focal point, the table really did not need anything else.
The restaurant staff was great, they allowed me to decorate the tables which was perfect. Since I was using votive candles, it helped to add to the already beautifully decorated dining area. There were enough votive candles and bubble wands for everyone to take home as favors. It also added that simple, elegant touch to add magic to our special day.
Afterwards, we all gathered at the hotel where we had rooms reserved for everyone. The hotel atrium was the perfect back drop for all of our fun family wedding pictures.
Although the restaurant is no longer there, it still is a favorite Anniversary memory and a great reception idea.
